You are probably here because a child sent you a message. This page explains what the app is, in plain terms, so you can decide for yourself.

What HorseJournal is

HorseJournal is a private diary for people who love horses. Every horse gets its own page, and photos, rides and first times stay attached to that horse instead of disappearing into a camera roll. It is closer to a shoebox of photographs than to a social network.

It was built by Fransiska, a mother of two horse-mad daughters, after watching their best days at the stable vanish into disappearing stories and group chats.

What it deliberately does not do

• No public feed. Nothing your child writes or photographs is ever visible to strangers.
• No followers and no discovery. There is no way for an unknown adult to find, follow or message your child.
• No advertising. Not now, not later. The app is paid for by Premium subscriptions, not by attention.
• No advertising trackers. We measure page visits without cookies and without profiling.

Sharing works through circles: small groups your child puts together on purpose, one person at a time. A stable friend, a grandparent, an instructor. Whatever is shared in a circle is visible to that circle and to nobody else.

What your child was probably asking for

The free version keeps photos, rides and milestones. Premium adds video, unlimited horses and unlimited photos. Video is the part children ask about most, because a horse moving is a different memory than a horse standing still.

Premium is 3.99 EUR per month or 24.99 EUR per year. The yearly plan works out at six months free. The exact amount in your own currency is shown in the App Store before you confirm anything.

You can cancel at any time from Settings, Apple ID, Subscriptions on the iPhone, and Premium keeps working until the period you already paid for ends. There is no cancellation step to hunt for and no phone call to make.

About spending money

Every purchase goes through the App Store, which means it needs your Apple ID and whatever approval you have set up. If you use Family Sharing with Ask to Buy, you will get the request on your own phone before anything is charged.

Where the photos and the data live

Entries are stored in the European Union. We do not sell data, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not build a profile of your child. If you would like the account and everything in it deleted, you can do that from inside the app, or write to us and we will handle it.

Age and consent

HorseJournal is made for young riders and their families. Where the law asks a parent to consent for a younger child, that requirement applies here too, and the age differs per country. If you would rather set the app up together, that is the version we had in mind anyway.

The app is free to download, and you can see everything the free version does before deciding about Premium. Setting up the first horse together takes about two minutes.
