Hoof pick
A hoof pick is a curved hook to remove mud, manure and stones from the hoof.
What is it for?
It cleans the underside of the hoof and clears dirt around the frog and sole.
Where on the horse?
On the underside of each hoof, around the frog and the sole.
How do you use it?
Lift the hoof and work with the hook from heel to toe, away from the sensitive frog.
What to watch for
Work carefully around the frog, and while picking out watch for heat, smell or sensitivity as a reason to consult a professional.
