Between coronet and pastern lies the half-pastern, where white reaches halfway up the pastern. The pastern marking ends below the fetlock; if white reaches above the fetlock it is called a sock.

What is it often confused with?

  • Coronet

    A coronet is a narrow white band just above the hoof.

  • Sock

    A sock is white reaching from the hoof to about halfway up the cannon.
