Neck cover
A neck cover is the neck and poll section that gives a rug extra coverage.

What is it for?
The neck cover covers the neck so a horse that needs more coverage is protected there too against cold, wet or insects.
How is it made?
A built-in or removable neck section that matches the rug. It exists on turnout, stable and fly rugs.
When do you use it?
Added to a rug in cold or wet weather, or to a fly rug against insects on the neck.
What to watch for in the fit
Make sure the neck cover meets the rug without a gap where wet or insects get in.
Watch for rubbing on the neck and at the withers.
Choose the right length so the neck piece does not pinch or slip back.
Take care
On horses with thick manes a neck cover can cause overheating or irritation. Check the neck regularly.
