The pre-trip inspection is the fixed round of tyres, brakes, lights and coupling before you drive off.
What is it for?
It catches problems on the driveway instead of at the roadside with a horse on board.

Go over tyre pressure and tread (including the spare), test brakes and lights, check the breakaway cable, the coupling and the jockey wheel, and see that ramp, floor and partitions are sound. This list is general; follow your trailer's manual. Annual professional servicing is recommended.
