Sponge
A sponge is a soft sponge to clean sensitive areas with a little moisture.
What is it for?
It cleans fine zones such as the eyes, nostrils, lips and the base of the tail.
Where on the horse?
Around the eyes and nose, and separately around the base of the tail and the groin.
How do you use it?
Dampen it lightly and wipe gently; ideally use separate sponges for the head and the hindquarters.
What to watch for
Keep sponges for the face and the hindquarters separate and wash them often, so dirt is not carried from one zone to another.
Role in the grooming session
For the fine finishing of sensitive spots, usually towards the end.
