The geometry

An arc of 180 degrees with a fixed diameter. In a half circle with return, the horse leaves the track, describes a half circle and returns to the track via a straight, slanted line.

Good to know

A half circle followed by a straight line to the track is a common way to change rein. The diameter determines how sharp the arc is.
