The geometry

Purely the geometry: a straight line that the horse covers forwards and sideways, for example from the centre line to the track or along the long side. The body stays almost straight; the horse's path makes a shallow angle with the direction of travel.

Good to know

The line is often ridden from the centre line to the long side. The horse moves diagonally across the arena at a shallow angle, with forehand and hindquarters on two parallel tracks.
